Cook Museum of Natural Science

The Cook Museum of Natural Science began with the insect collection of John Cook, founder of Cook’s Pest Control and grew into an immersive museum where visitors can explore the wildlife and natural environments of the Tennessee Valley. The collection, once housed in a 5,000 SF building, now anchors a prominent 60,000 SF destination in downtown Decatur, Alabama.

An Interactive Museum Experience

Centered on the theme “An Amazing World,” the museum features interactive exhibits highlighting the biomes and wildlife of the Tennessee Valley. Exhibit, educational, dining and multifunction space supports exploration and hands-on learning.

Connecting the Museum with the City

A sloped glass façade offers glimpses of the exhibits inside and establishes a distinctive downtown presence. The spacious front plaza welcomes visitors approaching from three roadways while extending the museum experience into an outdoor educational space.
