Greenville County, EMS Headquarters
Greenville County EMS Headquarters needed a centralized facility to improve operations, support staff well-being, and streamline emergency response. The previous locations were scattered and outdated, making coordination and efficiency a challenge.
Innovative Adaptive Reuse for Centralized Operations and State-of-the-Art Facilities
A 30,000 SF space within a former shopping mall was repurposed into a modern EMS headquarters. This transformation revitalized an underutilized commercial space while providing a strategic central location for emergency medical services.
The redesigned Greenville County EMS Headquarters features employee lockers, a dedicated break room, and specialized training areas with advanced simulators. These upgrades improve staff morale and retention, ensuring first responders have the resources they need to serve the community effectively.
Integrated Emergency Services Under One Roof
Beyond EMS operations, the facility houses the Emergency Management Division, Emergency Operations Center, and the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sheriff’s Office. A central communications hub manages all emergency medical calls and dispatches for most county fire stations, streamlining response times.
A secure parking area for 44 ambulances ensures rapid deployment during emergencies. Since its completion, the headquarters has significantly improved operational efficiency and staff satisfaction, making it a model for adaptive reuse in public safety facilities.
