The Mountain Community School (K-8)

The Mountain Community School, a K-8 public charter school in Hendersonville, NC, is expanding its campus to support its mission of academic excellence and discovery through a strong connection to nature.

The school’s planned 17,000 SF addition includes classrooms, gymnasium, media center, and outdoor spaces. A central courtyard will accommodate outdoor classes, quiet study, and lunch breaks by blending natural elements with everyday learning.

Phased Campus Expansion for a Growing Charter School

The Mountain Community Charter School project will allow the school to double its student body. The design separates K–5 and 6–8 grade levels into two learning environments. Shared spaces include the gymnasium, library, and support spaces. 

To minimize disruption, the project will be built in phases, allowing students to remain on campus throughout construction. Once complete, the expanded campus will support both academic and recreational development with facilities that reflect the charter school’s values and growing role in the community.
