Lancaster Library
Lancaster County Library’s major renovation was shaped by extensive community engagement. Public meetings and staff workshops helped guide the development of a strategic renovation plan for the 20,700 SF facility. The primary goal included improving functionality, flexibility, and inclusivity while maximizing impact within a limited budget.
Based on community input and programming analysis, the renovation plan called for updated technology and reimagined spaces for all age groups. A new multipurpose room was designed to accommodate 150 people for community events and gatherings. Dedicated areas for teens, flexible study and collaboration spaces, and improved areas both children and adults were incorporated to ensure the library remains a welcoming destination for years to come.
Improved Functionality and Flexibility for All Ages
Key improvements also focused on operational efficiency, with upgrades to staff areas to support smoother workflows. The addition of meeting and program rooms allows the library to accommodate groups study to large events.
The Lancaster Library is an example of how cost-effective renovations guided by community input can revitalize a public library into an accessible resource for all.
