Whitesville Rural Fire Department
Whitesville Rural Fire Department’s new 8,000 SF, single-story facility is located in one of South Carolina’s fastest-growing regions. The strategically designed station improves emergency response times to housing, schools, and commercial developments in the area. This modern fire station includes essential spaces like apparatus bays, a day room, kitchen, bunk rooms, locker rooms, offices, and support spaces. The station also provides office areas for the sheriff’s department and EMS.
To accommodate the need for privacy, the bunk rooms and bathrooms are designed to provide privacy for female firefighters. The Whitesville Rural Fire Department structure utilizes an efficient mix of a single-sloped wood-framed building for administrative spaces and a pre-engineered metal building for the apparatus bay.
A large landscape buffer, featuring a bicycle path, runs along the front of the building, connecting it to nearby communities. Large windows into the apparatus bay showcase the bright red fire engines, emphasizing the station’s role in the community.
