University of Alabama in Huntsville, Center for Cybersecurity and Computing

The University of Alabama in Huntsville is transforming the Center for Cybersecurity into a centralized hub for research and education. The 93,600 SF facility will house the College of Computer Science, the College of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Development, and shared partnership spaces that strengthen connections between the university and industry.

Designed to support the rapidly evolving fields of cybersecurity and advanced computing, the cybersecurity research and education center creates a technology-rich environment where students, faculty, researchers, and industry partners can collaborate to advance innovation and prepare the next generation of STEM professionals.

Designed for Collaboration and STEM Discovery

Flexible classrooms, specialized laboratories, faculty offices, and open collaboration spaces bring teaching, research, and industry engagement together within a single facility. The design encourages interdisciplinary interaction while supporting emerging technologies, evolving academic programs, and future growth.

Located in Huntsville, Alabama — a national center for defense, aerospace, and advanced technology — the facility strengthens UAH’s role in preparing graduates for high-demand careers while supporting research partnerships that drive innovation across the region.

Modernizing a Campus Asset through Adaptive Reuse

The project transforms a former hotel and conference center into a contemporary academic environment through a comprehensive interior renovation, building systems modernization, targeted exterior improvements, and infrastructure upgrades that support technology-enabled teaching and advanced research.

By repurposing an existing campus building, the university expands its research and education capabilities while extending the long-term value of an important campus asset.
