Spartanburg Day School, Academic Building Addition
Spartanburg Day School, a respected independent 2K–12 college preparatory school, envisioned a new academic building that supports modern teaching methods and serves as a symbol of educational excellence. Located prominently at the front of campus, the 27,000 SF facility is designed to make a lasting impression. It functions as a recruitment asset and a defining presence for the school’s identity.
Supporting Student Interaction and Sustainable Campus Growth
Designed to foster both formal instruction and informal learning, the Spartanburg Day School two-story addition encourages student engagement beyond the classroom. It brings academic, administrative, and community functions together in a high-performing, collaborative environment. A central lobby and gallery welcome students and visitors while providing gathering and study space. Classroom wings house science labs, general learning spaces, and a 55-seat seminar room. The building also includes key administrative offices for admissions, the Head of the Upper School, and student guidance services.
The Spartanburg Day School academic addition and athletic complex projects achieved LEED Certification. The facility incorporates energy- and water-saving systems, recycled materials, and waste-reduction strategies—aligning with the school’s goal of responsible stewardship as it expands its independent school campus for future generations.
