South Columbus Public Library, Chattahoochee Valley Libraries

The South Columbus Public Library renovation transformed a 21,000 SF facility into a modern, welcoming community resource that expands access to learning, technology, and gathering spaces for residents of all ages.

Transforming a 30-Year-Old Library into a Modern Community Hub

The project reimagined the 30-year-old library’s interior, replacing outdated furnishings and shelving layouts with an open, flexible environment designed to improve visibility, accessibility, and the overall user experience.

Dedicated spaces for children, teens, young adults, computer users, and general collections allows the South Columbus Public Library to better serve students, families, and lifelong learners. Enhanced technology areas support digital access and educational opportunities, while flexible layouts accommodate evolving community needs and programming.

The renovation also extends the library experience outdoors through the addition of shaded seating areas equipped with electrical outlets, creating comfortable spaces for reading, studying, and remote work. Sustainability improvements, including increased access to natural daylight, enhance occupant comfort while helping reduce energy consumption.
