Sheperd Integrative Dermatology
Sheperd Integrative Dermatology is a model of sustainable design, drawing inspiration from elements that reduce environmental impact and enhance the community’s quality of life.
The 4,400 SF, non-institutional building blends seamlessly with the landscape, preserving many Live Oak trees. A permeable parking lot and rain barrels help reduce stormwater runoff.
Generous north-facing windows create a strong connection to the site. Sheperd Integrative Dermatology’s building is energy use is net positive. Solar panels, LED lighting, and large energy-efficient windows provide ample natural light while conserving power.
The building features natural and sustainable materials like concrete flooring, non-toxic insulation, and sustainably crafted furniture.
The design includes traditional exam rooms and office spaces. Additionally, a “discovery room” serves as a waiting area during office hours. When the office is closed, the community is invited to use the space for exhibits, workshops, events, yoga practice, and social gatherings.
