SEW-Eurodrive Smart Factory, Assembly Facility
The SEW-Eurodrive Smart Factory Assembly Facility expands capacity with a highly coordinated layout designed for automation, efficiency, and future growth. Located in Lyman, South Carolina, the facility strengthens the site’s role as a hub for advanced manufacturing while introducing a distinct identity within the broader development.
Integrated Production, Assembly, and Workplace Environments
The 250,000 SF facility brings together production, warehouse, and product development functions within a single, efficient footprint. Key spaces include production and assembly areas, shipping and receiving zones, warehouse storage, and dedicated product development labs.
A mezzanine level introduces open office environments, conference rooms, and collaboration spaces overlooking the production floor. This visual connection supports coordination between teams and reflects the increasing integration of engineering, operations, and leadership in modern manufacturing.
A double-height lobby creates a welcoming entry while serving as a flexible space for exhibitions, training, and meetings. This area supports engagement with both employees and customers, reinforcing the facility’s role as a place for learning and innovation.
An adjacent plaza with outdoor seating connects the building to the Maxolution showroom, extending the campus experience and supporting collaboration and demonstration opportunities.
Material Strategy that Reflects Brand and Scale
The building envelope features sandblasted precast concrete panels with textured and stained accents for durability and visual depth. Wood elements at key entrances introduce warmth and help define access points within the large-scale facility. These materials continue into the interior, creating a cohesive identity across the campus while giving the smart factory a distinct presence.
