SEW-Eurodrive, East Lobby and Office Renovation

After a successful renovation of the west side entrance of SEW-Eurodrive’s Lyman campus, McMillan Pazdan Smith was asked to return in 2018 to renovate the east side entrance. The building, originally constructed in the 1980s, required a new design to update the space to reflect the rest of the modern campus. The client’s goal was to create a welcoming, open, and functional environment.

The design team faced the challenge of working within a tight existing footprint to create a new spacious and secure lobby. We achieved the client’s goals by incorporating natural light through the use of glass to connect the outdoor entrance plaza with the lobby and production area. The new views provide transparency and a spacious appearance. By removing the low ceiling and exposing the floor structure above, the design team was able to create a more spacious and contemporary lobby. Additional interior renovation areas included updating the existing office spaces, modifications of the hallways so that breakout and meeting areas could be added, and carving out spaces for collaboration along the hallway walls. Exterior improvements included new signage, all new glass entrance doors allowing views into the lobby and production area, and the design of an expanded plaza which connects the existing building to the employee fitness and conference center.
