Renewable Water Resources (ReWa)

Replacing an aging headquarters while maintaining operations required a facility that could support Renewable Water Resources’ (ReWa) growing administrative needs, reflect its commitment to environmental stewardship, and serve as a welcoming destination for community engagement. The new building also needed to fit within its scenic riverside setting while showcasing the innovation behind the region’s water treatment systems.

Designed for Performance, Collaboration and Sustainability

The 27,700 SF headquarters was designed as a modern, transparent workplace that expresses the efficiency and precision of ReWa’s treatment processes. Exposed structural steel, mechanical systems, and building infrastructure celebrate the technical nature of the organization while creating an open, educational environment for employees and visitors. A two-story glass atrium and process gallery connect office spaces with flexible meeting and event areas. These spaces extend to an outdoor terrace overlooking the Reedy River, supporting board meetings, public events, and educational programming.

Sustainability was integrated throughout the project, earning LEED Silver certification. Daylighting strategies reduce energy consumption, while a high-efficiency four-pipe HVAC system performs better than ASHRAE 90.1 standards. An innovative irrigation system uses reclaimed effluent water from ReWa’s nearby treatment facility, further demonstrating responsible resource management.

Awarded:

  • AIA South Carolina Merit Award
  • LEED Silver Certified
