Prisma Health Performance Center, City of Greer
As Greer continues to grow, the Prisma Health Performance Center will give the community more room to play, gather, and compete while positioning the city to attract regional sports tourism and new investment. The City of Greer’s 200,000 SF sports and events center balances the everyday recreational needs of residents with the capacity to host tournaments, competitions, and community events.
Designed for Local Athletics and Regional Competition
The multi-use center will accommodate nine basketball courts and 16 volleyball courts, along with a dedicated wrestling gym, virtual simulation rooms, and additional recreation spaces. A competition court with spectator seating, concessions, and nearby restrooms will provide an event-ready setting for larger games and tournaments.
An elevated walking track overlooks the main courts from the upper level, where flexible multi-use rooms expand opportunities for fitness classes, meetings, and community programming. A restaurant and community meeting rooms will keep the building active beyond scheduled athletic events.
Outside, open fields, walking trails and playgrounds extend recreation across the site and create more ways for residents and families to use the property.
Creating an Identifiable Civic Destination
The architecture establishes a strong civic presence through a brick exterior, tall windows, and a rhythmic series of vertical elements that organize the expansive façade. Landscaped pedestrian areas create an inviting approach and connect visitors to the building and surrounding outdoor amenities.
Inside, a broad barrel-vaulted roof spans the main courts, creating a unified, open environment for multiple activities. Load-bearing precast concrete panels and steel framing support the large-volume facility, while the precast system helped accelerate construction of the building enclosure.
Using Recreation to Catalyze Development
The Prisma Health Performance Center represents a strategic municipal investment. Its combination of community amenities and tournament capacity is designed to increase visitation, support nearby businesses, and encourage continued development.
