Piedmont Health, Fayette Tower Expansion

To support the needs of a rapidly growing regional population, Piedmont Fayette is undergoing a 218,000-SF Tower Expansion. The project includes a new patient tower with shell space for future growth, along with renovations to surgical services, support spaces, and critical infrastructure systems.

Aligning Capacity with Demand

Since opening in 1997 with 54 beds, Piedmont Fayette had expanded to 310 beds, more than 2,300 staff, and over 130,000 annual outpatient visits. In response, our team worked closely with hospital leadership to align the expansion with current and projected demand, ensuring continued delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.

Integrated Design for Performance + Flexibility

The expansion introduces a new patient tower to increased bed capacity while allowing flexibility for future build-out. Surgical and clinical capabilities are enhanced through the addition of four new operating rooms, with capacity for four more, alongside expanded lab, pharmacy, and kitchen facilities. A new Central Utility Plant, sized for the fully-developed campus, and a renovated loading dock improves operational efficiency and supports long-term growth.

Planning-Driven, Patient-Centered Design

Comprehensive planning and programming informs the design, including detailed analysis of departmental adjacencies, patient flow, and support spaces to optimize performance. Interior design strategies modernize patient rooms, surgical suites, and public areas, enhancing comfort, privacy, and intuitive wayfinding for both patients and staff.

Positioned for Long-Term Growth

The expansion positions Piedmont Fayette hospital to meet the demands of a growing region, supporting higher-acuity care, future clinical growth, and an enhanced overall patient experience. Construction began in early 2026 with a projected 3-year timeline, allowing continuity of care during the campus transformation.
