Newberry College Space Utilization Study + Master Plan
Newberry College needed a long-term strategy to guide its future campus development. Facing growing enrollment, evolving academic programs, and increased demand for student life and athletic facilities, the college needed guidance to make informed capital planning decisions over the next five to 20 years.
A Data-Driven Framework for Flexible Development
Our team delivered a comprehensive, data-informed solution that positioned Newberry College to grow intentionally and sustainably. Recommendations supported the expansion of academic offerings, the improvement of student life facilities, and the thoughtful use of campus land for future development.
Our process began with a full assessment of existing facilities, identifying opportunities to better align space usage with program needs. We conducted demographic and enrollment studies, space utilization and projection studies, and developed future space programming strategies.
Actionable Solutions Informed by Data and Student Voices
Through collaborative visioning sessions and meetings with Newberry College stakeholders, we captured both quantitative data and real-world insights that shaped our recommendations.
In addition to long-range capital planning, we identified specific challenges. For instance, many international students have limited access to groceries and essentials due to a lack of transportation. To address this, Newberry College followed our recommendation and created an on-campus market.
The resulting campus plan supports both immediate improvements and phased development that align with Newberry College’s academic mission and enrollment goals.
