MUSC Health, Clements Ferry Pavilion

The Keith Corporation partnered with McMillan Pazdan Smith to design the new MUSC Health Clements Ferry Pavilion, a four-story, 80,000 SF, multi-disciplinary medical facility located in Charleston’s Cainhoy community. The office expands access to high-quality care for Berkeley and Charleston counties, supporting MUSC Health’s mission to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered services close to home.

The design prioritizes operational efficiency and patient experience, featuring:

  • first-floor registration desk serving the entire building
  • self-service kiosks to reduce wait times
  • streamlined core spaces
  • universal exam rooms that allow multi-specialty flexibility

Staff collaboration spaces were centralized to foster teamwork and enhance workplace satisfaction. Architectural elements — including a sweeping canopy inspired by MUSC’s sail motif, clear wayfinding, and interiors that celebrate local culture — create a welcoming environment for patients and staff.

The pavilion offers a broad range of services, including adult and pediatric primary care, advanced imaging, gastroenterology, heart and vascular care, obstetrics and gynecology, oncology and infusion, ophthalmology, orthopedics, physical and occupational therapy, and orthopedic urgent care. By combining thoughtful design with a robust clinical program, the Clements Ferry Pavilion reflects MUSC Health’s commitment to improving access and promoting holistic health for the growing Cainhoy community.
