Leidos Dynetics, Dr. Stephen M. Gilbert Advanced Manufacturing
Leidos Dynetics needed a facility capable of moving ideas quickly from concept through prototyping to final manufacturing. Because defense and aerospace programs frequently change and new contracts often require entirely different production processes, the facility had to support rapid reconfiguration while maintaining strict security protocols and advanced engineering capabilities.
Infrastructure Designed for Rapid Reconfiguration
The 78,000 SF Leidos Dynetics Advanced Manufacturing Facility addition is designed as a highly adaptable environment that integrates engineering, prototyping, and production within a single building. Electrical and mechanical engineering functions are integrated within the facility, enabling rapid development and production of complex systems such as avionics, surveillance technologies, and printed circuit boards.
Modular MEP systems, including compressed air, specialty gases, and grounding, allow the facility to be quickly reconfigured as programs evolve. Classified construction protocols allow different contracts or programs to operate in the same building while maintaining required separation and security.
The Dynetics facility is simple with clean design emphasizing the entry experience for visiting clients and partners. A dramatic cantilevered canopy creates a sense of weightlessness while referencing the imagery of flight.
