IFA Group Automotive Manufacturing Campus
German manufacturer IFA Group developed a multi-phase facility at Berkeley County’s Charleston Trade Center to support the expansion of its automotive driveshaft operations and bring regional manufacturing under one roof.
Consolidating operations into a single, high-performance campus
The initial phase delivered a 233,300 SF facility housing CV joint production lines along with warehouse and distribution functions. Open office areas alongside production spaces give teams direct access to the floor, meeting spaces and cafeteria.
Building on the success of the initial phases, IFA advanced its long-term plan with a third expansion that consolidated operations into one unified campus. This phase added 211,300 SF, bringing the total building area to 461,600 SF. The second-floor office was also fully built out, increasing office space to 34,000 SF and further integrating production and leadership teams.
Designed for efficiency, the expansion uses load-bearing tilt-wall concrete construction to reduce steel costs. Knockout panels incorporated in earlier phases allowed the expansion to tie into the existing warehouse and shipping functions without interrupting operations during construction.
A large training room and expanded cafeteria support workforce development and enhance daily operations, reinforcing a campus designed for long-term performance.
