Genesis Healthcare, Walterboro Family Care and Pediatrics

Our healhcare design team provided programming, planning, and design for Genesis Healthcare’s new Walterboro facility, a 25,867 SF community health center located along the I-95 corridor. As a nonprofit FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center), Genesis Healthcare is deeply rooted in the Lowcountry and Pee Dee Region, committed to improving local community health.

Conceived as a flexible, community-adaptable prototype, the single-story building supports comprehensive healthcare for patients of all ages.

The center brings together a wide range of services — including primary care, pediatrics, dental, vision, imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI), laboratory, and a retail pharmacy — to create a convenient, integrated patient experience. The design approach focused on operational efficiency, patient flow, and adaptability for future growth, using data-driven planning and close coordination with consultants and equipment vendors.

Constructed as a Type II-A non-combustible structure, the facility was designed with durability and safety in mind. This new comprehensive medical office reflects Genesis Healthcare’s mission to expand access to quality care in underserved areas while providing a welcoming, patient-centered environment that promotes long-term community health.
