Dr. T.K. Gregg Community Center

The City of Spartanburg developed the Dr. T.K. Gregg Community Center as a cornerstone of the Northside Initiative, a 400-acre effort transforming underutilized land near downtown into a thriving mixed-income, mixed-use neighborhood. The center advances the initiative’s goals for greater health, opportunity and social connection through community-focused public investment.

Designed to serve residents of all ages, the facility provides education, recreation and wellness programs in a safe and welcoming environment. Its flexible spaces accommodate evolving community needs while supporting year-round activities for children, families and older adults.

Expanding Access to Learning and Opportunity

Early childhood education is central to the center’s mission. Dedicated classrooms support preschool learning and after-school care, while technology and learning spaces accommodate computer courses, tutoring and financial literacy programs.

Meeting rooms and multipurpose spaces provide adaptable settings for public events, community outreach, civic gatherings and other local programs. Together, these resources help connect residents with knowledge, services and opportunities close to home.

Recreation and Wellness for All Ages

The center’s aquatic facilities include lap and recreation pools for exercise, swim lessons and water-safety programming. A gymnasium and large fitness room support youth sports, group exercise and other wellness activities.
