BAE Systems, Manufacturing

BAE Systems expanded its presence in Huntsville with a new office and high-bay manufacturing facility. The complex includes a 45,000 SF, two-story office building connected to a 38,000 SF, single-story high-bay manufacturing space.

Phase one developed eight acres within a planned 19.5-acre campus in Cummings Research Park. The facility was designed to support future growth as the campus develops and expands.

Secure Areas for Aerospace Development and Collaboration

The manufacturing facility uses tilt-up concrete panels, giving it a solid, grounded appearance beside the lighter metal-clad office building. Inside, the manufacturing space functions as both a highly technical laboratory and an area for strategic collaboration. Several SCIFs and secure areas are integrated around the laboratory environment. These spaces allow multiple programs to run adjacent to each other while protecting sensitive information and maintaining strict security requirements.

A Workplace That Supports Visibility and Collaboration

The building interior is separated into two distinct functions. The office environment emphasizes openness and natural light. Floor-to-ceiling curtain wall glass and exterior sun screens create a bright, healthy workplace for employees. A separate research and development facility with high-bay areas is shielded from potential espionage. Spaces are unique to the defense industry and product development.

The office building anchors the corner of the site and establishes a strong presence within Cummings Research Park. Its location and design help reinforce BAE Systems’ role in one of the nation’s fastest-growing research and technology corridors.
