Alabama School of Cyber Technology & Engineering

Alabama School of Cyber Technology & Engineering was created to address a growing demand for skilled professionals in cyber and engineering fields. As the nation’s only public, tuition-free residential high school dedicated to these disciplines, the school needed an environment that could support advanced curriculum, attract top students, and connect directly to industry.

Designed to Support Advanced Curriculum and Workforce Development

The school serves approximately 400 students, including 150 residential students. Located in Huntsville, Alabama, at Cummings Research Park, students are at the center of a major hub for aerospace, defense, engineering, manufacturing, and IT industries.

Academic spaces are designed around hands-on, applied learning to support real-world problem solving. In addition to classrooms, the program includes science labs, machine shops, a fabrication and engineering lab, and a cyber range. More than 80 industry partnerships provide internship opportunities and direct exposure to career pathways, reinforcing the school’s workforce development mission.

The campus includes 76,500 SF of academic space and 51,400 SF of residential space share a cohesive design. The residence hall is organized above a podium that houses dining and fitness spaces. The result is a campus that aligns education with industry needs to prepare students for high-demand careers in cyber technology and engineering while strengthening the regional workforce pipeline.
