A year after a Space Utilization Survey and Needs Assessment Analysis, Aiken County chose McMillan Pazdan Smith to update the building program and perform site selection services for a new government center that consolidates all county functions. Our design team evaluated several potential sites and facilitated public forums for community input on building location and aesthetics. Once the County selected a 20-acre greenfield site, we began detailed design for a three-story, 130,000 SF facility that includes 18 administrative departments, Magistrate Court, Solicitor’s Offices, Victim Advocate Offices, and Long-Term Records Storage. The center also includes a 200-seat council chambers and 150-seat training room and state-of-the-art emergency operations center.
