In response to challenges from a growing student population, Spartanburg Methodist College charged McMillan Pazdan Smith to assess the college’s overall space utilization and author a master plan to address their immediate and future needs. As a result of that exercise, the firm was commissioned by the college to design a new 45,000 SF multi-discipline academic building to support their strong liberal arts curriculum.
McMillan Pazdan Smith’s design contains new classrooms, a chorus room, an art studio and an acting studio, all equipped with the latest in teaching aid technologies. The faculty is equipped with new office suites and a 240 fixed-seat lecture hall which also serves as a performance space for recitals, film series lectures and student productions. The lecture hall includes supporting shop space, dressing rooms and a green room as well.
