Our Lady of Lourdes

Named in honor of and inspired by the legendary appearance of the Blessed Virgin Mary to a young girl in Lourdes, France in 1858, the Greenwood, SC parish, Our Lady of Lourdes, commissioned McMillan Pazdan Smith to pay homage to their beliefs, doctrine and the Catholic Church through the design of a new place of worship.

Working with the Parish and Diocese of Charleston, the firm programmed and master-planned a new campus to guide their building plans into the next century.  Placing the new 800 seat sanctuary as a focal point on the property, the master plan apportions space for an additional 400 seats, separated pedestrian and vehicular circulation and knits the sanctuary to other buildings on the campus.
