Marking Lynchburg College’s 100 year anniversary, McMillan Pazdan Smith was commissioned to design the new 65,000SF Elliot & Rosel Schewel Hall. Prominently located on campus, this new landmark is adjoined to the existing library and is designed to complement the historic beauty of the surrounding campus. Featuring a new 250 seat lecture and recital hall, the new building is home to the School of Communication and the Arts, School of Business and Economics and the Center for Learning Resources.
The lecture and recital hall accommodates both speech and music through acoustical balancing and lighting capabilities, and the stage and backstage areas accommodate chamber music groups of various sizes with performances broadcast live and filmed for television. Other distinctive features of the facility include desktop publishing, technology labs, video production studios, an auditorium and classroom spaces.
