Little Mountain Elementary

McMillan Pazdan Smith was entrusted with the renovation and addition to the community’s beloved early 1900s elementary school and was charged with bringing the facility up to modern day educational standards without compromising the architectural character indicative of the small town’s National Register Landmark Historic District.

Maintaining the school’s historic integrity, McMillan Pazdan Smith designed a two phased approach that respectfully restored the school as the center of community life.

The solution added appropriate space for special educational programs, physical education activities, expanded guidance offices and up to date technology infrastructure.  Furthermore, drawing upon McMillan Pazdan Smith’s historic preservation expertise, the firm restored the gymnasium and auditorium to their original function and re-designed the interior character in a fitting and respectful manner.
