In Summer 2016, German manufacturer the IFA group decided to expand their automotive driveshaft operations to include CV joints. Located in Berkley County’s newly opened Charleston Trade Center, just a few miles from the company’s current Ladson, SC plant, the new 216,000 SF facility will include the CV joint production lines and warehouse/distribution functions.
The design-build team included Frampton Construction as General Contractor, the Keith Corporation as Developer and McMillan Pazdan Smith as Architect. Numerous knockout panels enable a future Phase 2 expansion that would combine their operations under one roof. Likewise, the 17,000 SF office is designed to accommodate a 2nd floor expansion, providing 34,000 SF of total office space. Large, open office bays allow production and management teams to collaborate more frequently with easy access to meeting spaces and amenities like a large cafeteria space.
Construction began in Summer 2017, and the facility is now in operation.
