Chandler Environmental Center Dedicated to Longtime Wofford College Supporters

May 20, 2021 | Press, Projects

The 17,525 SF Chandler Center for Environmental Studies has been serving students since the beginning of the 2020-21 school year. The building itself is a teaching tool with exposed interior systems and a showcased “dashboard” monitor to allow students to track various energy consumption levels in the building.

This building is an incredible resource to Wofford’s Environmental Studies majors with its state-of-the-art laboratory space, seminar room, outdoor patio, garden spaces, classroom, and office space. With cutting-edge building sustainability features including systems to capture rainwater for irrigation, partial green roof, and solar roof panels, as well as the use of materials that reduce the carbon footprint, this design received 3 Green Globes, a certification of sustainable design and operations.

The building is named for donors Harold and Delores Chandler. One of our Principals, Ron Smith, was present for the center’s dedication ceremony on May 7, 2021. This center wouldn’t have been possible without the great work of our partners: Robins & Morton; Britt, Peters and Associates; and Crow & Bulman Engineering.
