Meals on Wheels Greenville Opens Larger, More Efficient Facility

Meals on Wheels Greenville began its next chapter of service with the grand opening of their new facility designed to help the nonprofit meet growing needs across Greenville County.

The 25,000-square-foot building will nearly triple the size of their former facility. This expanded space will allow Meals on Wheels Greenville to increase meal production capacity from approximately 2,000 meals per day to as many as 6,000 while strengthening its ability to serve seniors and vulnerable residents throughout the region.

We are building for the future. From 2023 to 2024, we saw 7% growth in our client numbers and our meals. Next week, we’re going to be celebrating 57 years of service… so this is ‘how do we start the next 57 years and be ready for what is needed?’ “

– Catriona Carlisle, Executive Director / Meals on Wheels Greenville

Supporting Volunteers and Community Connections

The new building will support the people who make the organization’s work possible. Each day, volunteers arrive to pick up meals and deliver them to residents across Greenville County. The facility’s layout helps those daily routines run more smoothly, with improved traffic flow and a drive-through pickup area that allows volunteers to quickly collect meals and head out on their routes.

Inside, the building also creates space for the broader Meals on Wheels Greenville community. A central lobby connects to an outdoor amphitheater that can host volunteer gatherings, celebrations, and community events throughout the year.

Reliability was another priority as the organization planned for the future. An upgraded generator allows the facility to continue operating during power outages, helping ensure that meal preparation and delivery can continue when the community needs it most.
