BELMONT, NC – CaroMont Health opened CaroMont Regional Medical Center – Belmont on January 8, 2025. This state-of-the-art facility was planned and designed by architectural, advisory services, and planning firm McMillan Pazdan Smith.
Located near Charlotte on Interstate 85, this new hospital is set to serve the growing healthcare needs of Gaston, Lincoln, and Mecklenburg Counties in North Carolina, as well as York County in South Carolina.
CaroMont Regional Medical Center features 54 licensed inpatient beds, a thoughtfully designed emergency department, a family-centered maternity unit, and a cutting-edge surgical suite. Each patient room is private, ensuring accessibility and comfort for patients and their families. The medical center also includes expansive family areas, a non-denominational chapel, and a cafeteria offering fresh, grab-and-go options.
The hospital’s design maximizes both functionality and aesthetics. Care team stations are centrally located on patient floors to enhance communication and workflow. The hospital’s main lobby and public spaces are designed to create a welcoming and calming environment for patients and visitors.
“This hospital is more than a building — it is a reflection of CaroMont Health’s commitment to our community,” said Richard Blackburn, Vice President for CaroMont Regional Medical Center-Belmont. In addition to providing needed medical services in this growing region, the hospital will also serve as a catalyst for future economic growth and development.
The new facility is part of a 28-acre medical campus that includes a four-floor medical pavilion with eight specialty clinics and the Belmont Surgery Center, an ambulatory surgery center for outpatient orthopedic and spinal surgeries. The campus is located close to Belmont Abbey College and Belmont Abbey nursing students will train at the hospital. This project marks the culmination of CaroMont Health’s 2019 commitment to invest over $400 million in construction and expansion projects in and around Gaston County.
McMillan Pazdan Smith did the master plan and was the architect of record with Robins & Morton serving as the General Contractor.
