McMillan Pazdan Smith was integrally involved in the master plan and building design for the largest open-air shopping center between Nashville and Knoxville known as Providence MarketPlace in Mt. Juliet, TN. The 830,000 SF, 104 acre center is located at the entrance of a 1,000-acre master-planned community known as Providence. McMillan Pazdan Smith balanced the developers’ requirements with tenant specific criteria to create an economic development engine and a shopping, dining and entertainment destination for the region.
As a regional “omnicenter,” meant to combine the best aspects of new urbanism and retail power centers, Providence is comprised of several districts and offers a multitude of services including department stores, movie theaters, medical offices, banks, single and multi-family residences, a retirement community, elementary school and private lake amenities. Outdoor gathering and amenity spaces host a summertime concert series and provide zones for pedestrian respite and interaction.
