Located in Sumter, SC, a city 50 miles from SC’s capitol and named after the American Revolutionary War hero Thomas Sumter, this 5,000 square foot freestanding building was designed to complement a recent surge of retail activity along the Broad Street corridor. Sited within a new Lowe’s parking field and adjacent to a new Walmart retail development, the project provides additional services for Sumter’s citizens and the surrounding rural communities.
With Starbucks and Aspen Dental as tenants, McMillan Pazdan Smith worked closely with the Developer and Tenants to create a design unique to the site and setting. By combining cost efficient materials and a fast-track design schedule, the project was completed on time and within budget. With outdoor patio space, bike racks, and a drive-through lane for Starbucks, the project enlivens what could have been asphalt parking area into a commercial revenue generator that provides much-needed employment opportunities.
